Quick Preview

Here is a quick preview of my party tomorrow

Many more images to come :)

I can't post without including our little trouble maker. He gave me a little scare this week but after many expensive tests and a day at the vet he is recovering well with some antibiotics and new food that should be easier on his stomach. I guess one of the million things he got into his mouth gave him an intestinal bug. His energy levels are back up plus some!!

Here is one of him after I picked him up at the groomers today. Soon after this he tried to chew the bandana off so it was removed.

Pirate Ben

I just wanted to take a minute to let you all know about this amazing family. Pirate Ben is a 6 year old little boy who is fighting for his life. I can't even to begin to understand what this family has been going through for the past 15 months but what I do know is how strong and resilient each one of them is. I have know Ben's mom, aunt, and grandparents since before I was born and I have always known they are a special group but they have been through a lot of challenges this past year and their strength and courage has amazed me. When you hear stories like this it makes you step back and realize how unfair life can be sometimes. I think it is good for all of us to take a minute and let ourselves try to feel just a fraction of what they must be feeling. My heart goes out to Lil' Ben and the entire Sarrat and O'brien family. We love you all and are amazed by your story. Read the whole story at pirateben.blogspot.com.

Updates

I know it has been forever since my last post so I thought I would give a fun and entertaining update.

Taupo
Taupo is getting so big, today he weighed in at 12 pounds, triple what he was when we got him. He is doing very well at puppy school. He loves people and therefore dodges the other puppies to get the people (similar to the first man in my life, Kip). He continues to be vocal but he loves to please us. He has learned sit and down and we are now working on stay and come. He wants to please us so much that he tends to anticipate what we want him to do before we tell him to do it. That worked fine when he only knew sit but now it makes it a little more tricky. He is doing great, keeping us busy but also very entertained. Here is a video we find very amusing.

Teaching

I have been teaching for about a month now and I am really enjoying it. All the nerves are gone and now I'm just working on how to make my students love math as much as I do. The majority of them are terrified of this class and all the "hard" math I make them do. We have our first test on Monday so we will see how it goes. I am trying to relate the material to real life and most specifically the olympics so they will enjoy it more; so far I think it is working for a few of them.

Thanks MOM

Well last thing I have to brag about is my really awesome early birthday present from my mom!!

It is a.........
